Abstract

In his philosophy of religion Hegel develops an anthropological conception, which corresponds to the well-known anthropology at the beginning of his philosophy of spirit, but structurally distinguishes itself from the latter. However, that he in the entire Berlin period never discusses about the connection between these two anthropological conceptions and at the end of this period even shows signs of refraining from the anthropological conception in the philosophy of religion is not a mere coincidence. The clarification of this problem not only fills a gap in the Hegel studies, but also provides us with insights into the particularity of the model of Hegel’s philosophy of religion and highlights its distinction from the other models. For Hegel’s attitude does not stem from the structural incompatibility between those two conceptions, nor are they systematically incompatible, even though they belong to different parts of the philosophy of spirit. It lies rather in the fact that the anthropological and hence genealogical approach to the religion does not concur with Hegel’s concept of religion based on Spinoza’s metaphysic of immanence
